Pursuant to its commitments to improve wildlife conservation delivery capacity of its strategic partners, WWF Zambia yesterday, 9th March 2016 handed over two motor vehicles and research equipment worth over K850,000 (approx. $78,000) to the Department of National Parks and Wildlife (DNPW), which was received by the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism and Arts Mr Zachariah Luangwa and the DNPW Director Paul Zyambo.
The Acting Permanent Secretary noted that the donation came at the right time when the Department of National Parks and Wildlife had come into being following the transformation of the Zambia Wildlife Authority (ZAWA).
“The gesture by WWF-Zambia is a clear testimony that WWF-Zambia means well and wishes the new department to succeed,” said Mr Luhanga. Dr Nyambe Nyambe, the WWF Country Director stressed that the equipment should translate into conservation results in Liuwa and Bangweulu ecosystems where WWF is already supporting the Sustainable Park Management Model in through African Parks.
