WWF Regional Office for Africa (ROA) is seeking to recruit a proven leader with the capability of growing an organization’s impact and building future leadership and talent in the organization to fill the position of Country director for our WWF Zambia office.
Location: WWF Zambia Office in Lusaka, Zambia.
The Role:
The post holder will develop and lead a high performing WWF Zambia Office so that it is embedded in local society, is highly influential and relevant to the Country and plays a leadership role in the WWF network. He/she should be able to shape the conservation agenda of Zambia to deliver on WWF’s global priorities at national, regional and global level.
The appointee will lead the vision, strategic planning and institutional development of WWF Zambia Office as the leading conservation NGO nationally, regionally and globally while remaining accountable for the management of WWF Zambia Office and ensure it is managed effectively and efficiently in all key programme areas –Conservation Program, Finance and Administration, Human Resources, Partnership Development, Communications, Fundraising and M&E thus achieving
WWF Zambia’s vision and KPIs.
He/she will report to the Deputy Regional Director, East and Southern Africa and work closely with the Regional Management Team for Africa. He/she will supervise the Zambia Country Office Senior Management Team.
How to apply?
If you have at least 10 years professional experience in a leadership role, 3-5 years of which should be in the Southern Africa region, with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams; possess an advanced university degree in Business Management, International Relations/Development, or other related fields and a proven track record in successfully developing, leading, and managing large-scale programmes and/or institutions in the field of conservation, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields. WWF Zambia has recently developed an organizational strategy for the period 2016 -2020 and Multi-Year Change Plan. Both explicitly recognize the need for WWF-Zambia to evolve and change in response to the  shifting  pace  and  nature  of  change  in  Zambia  and  the  Southern  African  region  which  pose  both challenges  and  opportunities  to  the  organisation.  A number of key organisational transitions are therefore underway to enhance our organisational ability to plan and deliver the conservation programmes.
At this point in time we are seeking consultants to support us with three specific initiatives: 
i. SKILLS AND COMPETENCY ASSESSMENT: To conduct an assessment of the skills and competency development needs of WWF Zambia Country Office in support of the realisation of our 2016-2020 strategy. The consultant will be expected to assess the required skills and competencies to successfully deliver on our strategy.

ii. MARKET RESEARCH & LOCAL FUNDRAISING STRATEGY: The purpose of this assignment is to support WWF Zambia to develop our first Local Fundraising Strategy and Road Map. The strategy will take a medium to long-term perspective, and enable the organization to astutely analyse, plan and execute investments in local fundraising over the period 2017 to 2020 against defined targets and ambitions.

iii. GRANT FUNDRAISING CAPACITY-BUILDING: The purpose of this consultancy is to strengthen the ability of WWF Zambia to successfully develop long-term and strategic partnerships with key institutional partners (government development and aid agencies, and multilateral organisations) who can provide support for the realisation of our 2016-2020 strategy.
